CMG’s 20th Anniversary in Wales
People from across South Wales who are supported by Care Management Group (CMG) came together in Blackwood this week to celebrate CMG’s 20th anniversary Festival of Peace and Positivity.
The event marks 20 years of success, with CMG growing exponentially from just two residential services in 1996, to becoming one of the UK’s leading disability care providers today. The group now has over 120 homes in England and Wales which provide support to hundreds of individuals and their families.
Staff, people we support and their families and professionals from across South Wales joined the festivities at Islwyn Indoor Bowls Club in Blackwood, bringing the CMG community together. The get-together is part of CMG’s commitment to empowering the people they support and helping them to enjoy new experiences and meet new people.
Guests were greeted by Claire Pritchard, Operations Director for Wales of CMG who gave a welcoming speech in both Welsh and English, before the celebrations got under way.
There was a full programme of music and arts focused events for everyone to enjoy throughout the day. These included a ‘Welsh Factor’ singing competition, art therapy workshops, poetry, photography and Welsh workshops and even Zumba classes and a baking competition.
Service user quotes: “It was great being a judge in the Welshfactor competition. The best thing was having fun. Learnt how to take good photos. Being in the Welshfactor finals – I can’t believe I got so far”
“The best thing about the day was seeing everyone smiling. Great day, lots of variety, lovely to see people so happy. It was great seeing all the people we support having a great time.”
Peter Kinsey, CEO of CMG, said:
“I was delighted to be able to celebrate the last 20 years with the staff and services users from Wales who make the CMG community so special.”
“The passion of our staff and the incredible achievements made by the individuals we support year after year is what motivates us, and so it was fantastic to celebrate this milestone together with such a wonderful day of activities.”
