CMG honours staff at annual ceremony

07 December 2015

The contribution CMG staff members make to the lives of the people they support has been recognised at the learning disability care provider’s annual staff awards evening in London.

There were hundreds of nominations across 15 categories, which all came from colleagues, the individuals CMG supports and their families.

On the evening, the staff at CMG’s Honeywood service in Essex won the Team of the Year award. They were put forward by the parent of one person who lives there, who said: “I can’t fault anything about the staff and am so full of praise for the amazing work, love and devotion they give. My son is extremely fortunate to live there.” The Outstanding Contribution to CMG award was picked up by psychologist, Lynsey Way. Lynsey was recognised for her outstanding work in understanding Asperger’s and helping the people she supports to live independent lives. In fact, she was nominated by someone she used to work with at CMG, who said: “Lynsey has always been able to help me in difficult situations and I feel that if it wasn’t for her I wouldn’t be in my own flat with independence.”

All awards were presented by CMG’s Chairman, Sir William Wells.

Peter Kinsey, Chief Executive of CMG, said: “The people we support are the absolute priority for our staff members, so evenings like these are a great way for their effort and commitment.” “Their passion is what drives us forward and it’s fantastic for them to hear how big a difference their work makes.”

Lynsey Way, winner of the Outstanding Contribution to CMG award, said: “I am very fortunate to have a job that is intrinsically rewarding and has frequent opportunities to improve a person’s quality of life. That said, having our work recognised by our colleagues and the families of people we support is very motivating and for me, being nominated by someone who I directly worked with is the real award.”
