People from across CMG came together at one of its services in Essex this week to celebrate CMG’s 20th anniversary.
The event marks 20 years of success with CMG growing exponentially from just two residential services in 1996, to becoming one of the UK’s leading disability care providers today. The group now has over 120 homes in England and Wales which provide support to hundreds of individuals and their families.
Staff, service users and their families from across the country joined the festivities at CMG’s Lilliputs Day Centre, bringing the whole CMG community together. The get-together is part of CMG’s commitment to empowering the people they support and helping them to enjoy new experiences and meet new people.
Guests were greeted by Peter Kinsey, the CEO of CMG who gave a welcoming speech and also heard from Darren Rose a service user who has been with CMG for twenty years, before the celebrations got under way.
There was a full programme of events for people to enjoy throughout the day, including a live band on stilts, a mini zoo, circus acts, games, face painting and a disco. There was also an impressive performance from The Brelade Players, a sketch comedy group formed by people who are cared for by CMG.
Darren Rose, said:
‘I had a brilliant time, the time of my life. The food, dancers and acrobats were all excellent. I also had a great time going on stage and giving a speech because I have been at CMG for twenty years.’
Gareth Ramjean, a Lead Support worker at CMG, said:
‘The day was fantastic, it catered for everyone’s needs, across all the different complex disabilities CMG service users have.
‘There were lots of excellent activities that many of our service users wouldn’t have had the opportunity to experience otherwise, all the entertainment has been amazing. It has also been an important opportunity for team and staff bonding across the group.’
Rachael O’Leary, a CMG service user from Sutton, said:
‘I really enjoyed the day and want to say thank you to Peter Kinsey and all the staff. Everything was amazing, the dancing, the music, everything.’
Peter Kinsey, CEO of CMG, said:
‘I was delighted to be able to celebrate the last 20 years with the staff and services users who make the CMG community so special.
‘The passion of our staff and the incredible achievements made by the individuals we support year after year is what motivates us, and so it was fantastic to celebrate this milestone together.’
